Chatto lauds barangay officials in Liga Congress

CONG CHATTO

Cong. Edgar Chatto emphasized the role of barangay officials as he lauded them during the 2024 Provincial Congress held on June 5-7.

“Governance entails a common understanding of the directions we wish to take towards achieving our dreams for our communities and our province as a whole,” Chatto said.

He cited the crucial role of barangay officials who are at the forefront of governance, be it in the aspects of development or challenges.

The provincial congress, he stated, is an opportune time to ensure that programs align with local and national priorities as well as in addressing pressing concerns that affect the Boholanos.

Years back, Chatto along with Atty. Dodo Jumawid put together a Katarungang Pangbarangay handbook to guide barangay officials in their role as administrators of justice in the community.

They also initiated the “The Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year” (TOBOY) awards  together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Chatto also presented major upcoming developments which he initiated.

These include the operationalization of the full consular affairs office of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Tagbilaran City this year.

DFA Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Adelio Angelito Cruz was here in May to inspect the space offered by the Alturas Group of Companies led by Marlito Uy. The Alturas Group had also made time to visit the DFA office in Aseana to observe the process flow as they committed to comply with the DFA space requirements.

The Governor Celestino Gallares Multi -Specialty Complex in Cortes will be operating soon, based on progress reports from the project implementation team.

This is the biggest health infrastructure investment in the country as pronounced by the Department of Health. The project is trailblazing not only in the enactment of Republic Act No. 11883, which Chatto principally authored, but it is also a pioneer in multi-specialty centers across the country.

Meanwhile, the Cebu-Bohol Interconnection Project of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines is targeting completion this year. Chatto, as then governor, worked with the Bohol Energy Development Advisory Group to bring in the NGCP investment for Cebu-Bohol to supplement the existing Leyte-Bohol line.

Chatto urged barangay officials to continue to work hand in hand to pursue greater growth and progress and overcome challenges.

The gathering of barangay officials was organized by the Liga ng mga Barangay Bohol Chapter under the leadership of Board Member Romulo Cepedoza, whom Chatto also strongly supported throughout the success of past Liga congresses.

The 3-day forum tackled Provincial Government programs on health, the African Swine Fever, agricultural growth, rabies eradication and disaster risk reduction management.
