City Government of Tagbilaran starts Inter-Departmental League 2024
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap energized participants at the annual Interdepartmental Sportsfest of the City Government of Tagbilaran which was held at the Saulog Gym on June 7, 2024. Said event provides a platform for city government employees to have fun, engage in sports, and foster stronger bonds.
The City Government of Tagbilaran officially opened its Inter-Departmental League 2024 with a vibrant ceremony held on June 7, 2024 at the Saulog Gym.
The event kicked off with a short parade of department heads, players, and coaches, who marched from the City Hall grounds to Saulog Gym, showcasing the spirit of unity and camaraderie among the city’s employees.
The league features six teams representing various office clusters, all set to compete in different sports events.
During the opening program, Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala delivered inspiring messages, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness.
Mayor Yap said, “This league is a celebration of our shared commitment to fostering a healthy and active community within our city government.”
Chief of Staff John Geesnell “Baba” Yap led the athletes in taking the Oath of Sportsmanship, reaffirming their dedication to fair play and respect for fellow competitors.
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was the selection of the Team Muse. Mel Rose Oliverio of the Green Team was crowned Miss Inter-Departmental League 2024, adding a touch of glamour and excitement to the event.
The festivities continued into the evening with exciting basketball games, marking the start of the league’s competitions.
This year’s league will feature various ball games, including Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, Basketball, and other traditional Filipino games or Larong Pinoy.
The Inter-Departmental League is part of the celebrations leading up to the Tagbilaran City Charter Day on July 1.
The games are scheduled to conclude by the end of June, promising a month filled with friendly competition and community spirit.
This initiative underscores the city government’s commitment to promoting wellness and unity among its employees, while also providing a platform for showcasing their talents and fostering a sense of community.
Tagbilaran City plans future investments at 2025 AIP Workshop

The City Government of Tagbilaran convened its 2025 Annual Investment Plan (AIP) Formulation Workshop on June 10, 2024 at JJ’s Seafood Village.
This significant event, organized by City Budget Officer Marysol Perocho, brought together department and office heads as well as, civil society organization (CSO) representatives to strategize and plan for the city’s upcoming investment projects.
Perocho opened the workshop with an insightful discussion on the topic “Planning and Budgeting Linkage,” emphasizing the importance of aligning the city’s financial planning with its strategic goals.
Her presentation set the tone for a collaborative and forward-thinking approach to budgeting and investment.
Mr. Joe Pres Gaudiano, Program Manager of the Climate Action Partnership in Asian Cities (CAPACities), followed with an orientation on the CAPACities project, a five-year initiative, designed to fortify the inclusive climate change governance and adaptive capacity of Tagbilaran City.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Gerard Lavdia, presented the city’s programs, projects, and activities for the implementation of the Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) and Climate Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA).
His presentation underscored the city’s commitment to building effective climate change adaptation and mitigation activities.
Engr. Estela Margate from the City Planning and Development Office showcased the proposed development projects for the city.
She also facilitated the AIP workshop proper, guiding participants through the detailed planning process and ensuring that all proposed projects are aligned with the city’s overall development strategy.
Mayor Jane Yap praised the proactive efforts of the workshop participants, stating, “This collaborative approach to planning and investment is crucial for our city’s sustainable growth. The insights and strategies developed here will guide us in creating a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Tagbilaran.”
The workshop provided a platform for city officials, key employees and CSO representatives to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop a cohesive investment plan that addresses the city’s most pressing needs and future aspirations.
By integrating climate action and disaster risk reduction into the planning process, Tagbilaran City aims to foster a sustainable and resilient urban environment.
