Bohol electric utilities announce rate increases for June 2024

Residents of Bohol are set to face higher electricity bills as distribution utilities adjust their rates this month. Bohol Electric Cooperative 1 (BOHECO 1), Bohol Electric Cooperative 2 (BOHECO 2), and Bohol Light Company Inc. (BLCI) have all announced changes to their tariffs.

Rate Adjustments by BOHECO 1 and BOHECO 2

BOHECO 1, which serves first district towns across Bohol, will implement the following rate adjustments:

  – Residential Consumers: A P0.41 per kilowatt-hour increase.

  – Light Voltage Users: Expect a P0.31 per kilowatt-hour rise.

  – High Voltage Consumers: Prepare for a P0.33 per kilowatt-hour surge.

– BOHECO 2, covering third and second district towns, will introduce the following changes:

  – Residential Consumers: A substantial P0.85 per kilowatt-hour hike.

  – Low Voltage Customers: A modest P0.26 per kilowatt-hour increase.

  – High Voltage Consumers: A minimal P0.05 per kilowatt-hour adjustment.

BLCI’s Rate Revisions

Bohol Light Company Inc. (BLCI), responsible for supplying electricity to Tagbilaran City, will also adjust its rates:

  – Residential Consumers: An additional P0.19 per kilowatt-hour.

  – Commercial Consumers: Anticipate a P0.27 per kilowatt-hour increment.

Reasons Behind the Increase BLCI attributes the rate hike to rising power generator costs.

Notably, the distribution utilities emphasize that they do not retain any portion of the rate adjustment.

Instead, these charges are remitted to electricity suppliers and the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
