Tagbilaran offers free mobile services for senior citizens in Poblacion 2

In a heartfelt initiative led by Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, the City Government of Tagbilaran provided free mobile services for senior citizens in Barangay Poblacion 2 on June 18, 2024.
This outreach program aimed to bring essential services directly to the elderly, ensuring they receive the care and support they need.
Mayor Jane Yap personally led the event, emphasizing the city’s commitment to the well-being of its senior residents. “Our senior citizens have contributed so much to our community, and it is our duty to ensure they receive the best care and services,” Mayor Yap stated.
Poblacion 2 Punong Barangay June Ramon Duroy, the Sangguniang Barangay and employees warmly received the city’s team.
PB Duroy also expressed his gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its importance for the senior citizens.
The Libre Mobile Services for Senior Citizens included comprehensive health check-ups to monitor and manage various health conditions common among seniors, distribution of free medication for those with chronic conditions and other medical needs, and legal services providing access to legal advice and assistance for various issues affecting the elderly.
Dental services, including tooth extractions, were offered to address oral health concerns, alongside electrocardiograms (ECGs) for heart health monitoring to detect any potential issues early.
Grooming services like free haircuts, massages, and hair color treatments were available to boost morale and well-being.
Further services provided included rabies vaccinations for pets owned by seniors to ensure the safety and health of their animals and distribution of vegetable seedlings to encourage gardening as a healthy and therapeutic activity.
Nutritious hot meals from DIWA Party List were served to all participants.
The turnout for the event was significant, with numerous seniors from Barangay Poblacion 2 benefiting from the services provided.
Many expressed their gratitude for the city’s efforts, highlighting the positive impact of the program on their lives.
The Libre Mobile Services for Senior Citizens program is set to continue, with future events planned across different barangays in Tagbilaran City, further demonstrating the city’s unwavering commitment to its elderly.

This training session aimed to enhance the awareness and responsiveness of city government employees towards gender issues, promoting a more inclusive and equitable workplace and community service environment.
The training was organized by the Tagbilaran City Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System and the City Human Resource Management and Development Office (CHRMDO).
The learning session was led by Mr. Cirilo Maramba, Jr., a well-respected resource person known for his extensive expertise in gender sensitivity and equality.
Mr. Maramba provided valuable insights and practical strategies to help participants understand and address gender biases and stereotypes in their daily interactions and professional duties.
City Mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of such training sessions in her opening remarks, stating, “Gender sensitivity is crucial in ensuring that our services are fair and respectful to all citizens, regardless of gender. By equipping our frontliners with this knowledge, we are taking a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable city.”
