President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to visit Bohol on June 28, 2024, marking his first visit to the province since his election in 2022.
During his visit, President Marcos will address a province where his net satisfaction rating is notably lower compared to Vice President Sara Duterte, according to the latest Bohol Poll results.
Reports indicate that President Marcos will lead the distribution of financial aid to farmers and fisherfolk, particularly those severely affected by El Niño.
The ceremonial distribution will take place at the CPG Sports Complex.
At least 10,000 beneficiaries are expected to receive financial aid from the president, with approximately 2,500 beneficiaries from Tagbilaran City and 2,500 from each of Bohol’s three districts.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and other Cabinet members are anticipated to accompany the president during his visit.
In the 2022 elections, President Marcos secured a landslide victory in Bohol, garnering 501,637 votes, or 64.37% of the total votes.
However, Marcos’s net satisfaction rating in the recent Bohol Poll stands at -8.
As the 2025 midterm elections approach, the political landscape has shifted, with the Uniteam alliance from 2022 disintegrating following Vice President Duterte’s resignation as Education Secretary and vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
According to Alyansang Bol-anon Alang sa Kausaban (ABAKA) chairman Norris Oculam, President Marcos is expected to administer the oath to suspended Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and his mayors, inducting them into the ruling party and potentially shortening Aumentado’s suspension.
Aumentado and 68 others were suspended for six months without pay in connection with the Chocolate Hills fiasco.
