A columnist for The Bohol Tribune has publicly refuted accusations made by suspended Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado regarding his alleged involvement in the governor’s six-month suspension.
Donald Borja Sevilla, in a Facebook post addressed to Aumentado, expressed disappointment with what he called “childish insinuations” about his role in the governor’s suspension.
“Your suspension is of your own doing,” Sevilla wrote, referencing Aumentado’s performance during a Senate hearing on the Chocolate Hills’ controversy.
Sevilla’s statement came after Aumentado accused former Governor Art Yap as one who orchestrated his 6-month suspension. Aumentado said he had also received information from Sevilla and his wife, Joy, that another suspension of the incumbent governor is in the offing.
Sevilla reminded Aumentado on who authored a bill on the Chocolate Hills protected area management, stating, “I did not author the bill on the Chocolate Hills protected area management nor Senator Cynthia Villar or anybody else but you.”
The columnist also distanced himself from political maneuvering, saying, “I have since led a quiet and happy family life away from the treacherous and devious ways of those who wish to perpetuate themselves in power.”
Sevilla criticized Aumentado’s conduct, urging him to “be responsible with your statements” and expressing disappointment in the governor’s “childish” behavior.
“You have seriously disappointed me,” Sevilla wrote, adding that this was the second time he had to publicly address issues with the governor.
The columnist concluded his post by acknowledging the difficulties Aumentado faces, stating, “We know that these are trying times for you and we sympathize with your plight.”
