Despite the rains and the road closures, Boholanos felt proud that a President took time to visit Bohol.

It is not often that the leader of this country spends a few moments to touch base with the people of Bohol. Thus, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s visit to Bohol is a momentous occasion not just for the people who received financial aid from the government but also to other Boholanos who voted for him in 2022 that finally the leader of the nation has touched base with a proud race.

In his speech, Marcos took pride in mentioning the gems of Bohol. These are the white sandy beaches, the heritage, the warm and friendly people, the Calamay and even the Asin Tibuok.

He even expressed elation for having scored an Asin Tibuok and said he will use it as a condiment during lunch

More importantly, he gave a front and center tribute to the agricultural and fisheries workers of the province, after all, Bohol is known primarily as an agricultural province before it is known as a tourism powerhouse.

With DSWD secretary Rex Gatchalian (2nd from right).

Much to the delight of the crowd was the short but sweet program hosted by The Bohol Tribune’s Gloria Leodivica Araneta together with announcements of the aid and programs designed to alleviate the economic plight of Boholanos living at the fringes.

Indeed, Marcos’ visit to Bohol may be short but it will go down in the books as one of the activities filled with hope as we rise together “sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
