Screenville Cinemas

A standalone sequel and the present-day version of the 1996 blockbuster film about trying to predict and tame the immense power of tornadoes, “Twisters” will premiere on July 17, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

An adrenaline-pumping, seat-gripping, big-screen thrill ride, “Twisters” puts you in direct contact with one of nature’s most destructive forces – the tornadoes – dubbed as “twisters” in the central plains of the United States.

A former storm chaser, Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar Jones-“Where the Crawdads Sing”) is haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years. But she is lured back by her friend (Anthony Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell-“Top Gun: Maverick”), a charming but reckless social-media celebrity who loves to post his storm chasing adventures on social media.

As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler and their teams find themselves in a fight for their lives as multiple storm systems converge over central Oklahoma. A terrifying phenomena never seen before is unleashed upon the earth.

Alta Citta turns 5

One of the most recognizable landmarks in the heart of Tagbilaran City, Alta Citta celebrates five years as everyone’s favorite shopping and dining hub in the downtown area.

Store manager Alexis Roque said Alta Citta marked its 5th Anniversary yesterday, July 6, with relatively less fanfare. But they conducted a one-day only computer game promo, dubbed as “Scan & Win”, for their valued customers to enjoy winning instant prizes while shopping and dining.

The anniversary day was also highlighted by a free clinic inside the store, where patients availed themselves of free medical consultation and check up, from 10 am until 5 pm; while a Lip Synch duet was held at 3 pm. Last Friday, July 5, a kiddie singing star search was also conducted in the afternoon.

Within the span of five years, Mr. Roque is proud of Alta Citta to have major tenants like Jollibee, Chowking, Sunburst, ibex, BPI, Miniso, David Salon, Hukad, Dimsum Break, Executive Optical, including The Prawn Farm, etc.

Alta Citta also has a Supermarket at the Lower Ground Level which is open until 10 pm, including its MedPlus pharmacy. Other tenants open late at 10 am until 8 pm.

The young and dynamic store manager expresses his heartfelt gratitude to all the valued customers for their continued patronage of Alta Citta through the years.

A stunning architectural masterpiece, the 4-level Alta Citta spreads across 17,213 square meters occupying almost the entire block previously occupied by HNU (formerly DWC-T). With its exterior walls replete with striking linear designs, the mall has the semblance of the old HNU building purposely done just to preserve its sentimental and historical values.

The basement of the store serves as the carpark which can accommodate 65 cars and 150 motorcycles at any given time. An outside parking area around the mall can also hold 65 cars.

The meaning of Alta Citta is derived from the Spanish word “alta” meaning “high”, and Italian word “citta” which is “city”.
