Tagbilaran City honored at DSWD Region VII 4Ps Awards

Tagbilaran City was honored with various plaques and certificates of recognition during the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VII Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Awards, held at the Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran City on July 5, 2024. The awards were received by Mayor Jane Yap, City Councilor Eliezer Borja, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Lucille Clarin. DSWD Region 7 Director Shalaine Marie Lucero and 4Ps National Program Manager Gemma Gabuya presented the awards at the Bohol Local Chief Executives Consultation Dialogue. Tagbilaran City was recognized for its exceptional support and effective implementation of the 4Ps program. The city received several plaques of recognition, including: Most Self-Sufficient Households, LGUs with Ordinances and Resolutions in Support of 4Ps and Impactful Saulog or 4Ps Ceremonial Graduation, ensuring after-care services for graduated households. City Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude and pride in receiving the awards, stating: “These recognitions are a testament to our city’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of our residents through the 4Ps program. We will continue to support and implement initiatives that bring positive change and development to our community. Our dedication to ensuring the well-being and prosperity of every household in Tagbilaran remains steadfast.” City Social Welfare and Development Officer Lucille Clarin also expressed her appreciation, saying, “We are deeply grateful to the DSWD for acknowledging our efforts and supporting our initiatives. These awards inspire us to continue our work with even greater dedication, knowing that our efforts are making a significant impact on the lives of our beneficiaries.” These awards highlight Tagbilaran City’s commitment to improving the welfare of its residents through dedicated social programs and initiatives.

LGU Tagbilaran, USAID Urban Connect, and PPP Center ink MOA for Enhanced Financial Management and Investments

Mayor Jane Yap (in photo) is delivering an inspiring message. This event took place during the signing of the MOA by the City Government of Tagbilaran, (USAID) Urban Connect, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center on July 15, 2024 at the Bohol Tropics Resort, this city.

The City Government of Tagbilaran, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Urban Connect, and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center ceremonially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 15, 2024, at the Metro Centre Hotel, Tagbilaran City. This partnership aims to enhance the city’s financial management and boost locally sourced revenues and investments through successful PPP projects. The event commenced with a warm welcome message from City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, setting an enthusiastic tone for the collaborative endeavor. Mayor Jane Yap, in her message, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “This MOA marks a pivotal step towards sustainable urban development and economic growth in Tagbilaran. Through this collaboration, we aim to create a more efficient, transparent, and investment-friendly environment for our city.” PPP Center Executive Director USec. Cynthia Hernandez and USAID Economic Growth Specialist Jay De Quiros also delivered insightful messages, emphasizing the transformative potential of the Urban Connect initiative and the critical role of public-private partnerships in achieving development goals. The meeting also featured an orientation by PPP Center’s Deputy Executive Director ASec. Eleazar Ricote on the key provisions of the newly enacted Republic Act No. 11966, also known as the PPP Code of the Philippines, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations. This orientation aimed to familiarize attendees with the new regulatory framework, which will guide future PPP projects in the city. Urban Connect Chief of Party Dr. Alex Brillantes, Jr., provided closing remarks, underscoring the importance of collaborative learning and adaptation sessions with local government units (LGUs) and the private sector to ensure the success of PPP projects. The collaboration between the City Government of Tagbilaran, USAID Urban Connect, and the PPP Center promises to enhance financial management, boost locally sourced revenues, and attract investments, thereby driving sustainable development and economic growth in Tagbilaran City.
