Smart, Smiling and Sincere Nuez works for better police-community relationship

A smiling and amiable Lt. Col. Norman Nuez graced the studios of The Bohol Tribune Radio Program “Open Forum” once again as he renews his engagement with the Boholano people through the regular Sibya ug Pakiglambingit Program.
After several months of working in the field of his expertise, Nuez was able to spare some of his precious time to engage with the Boholano people on air, which is the sole rationale behind the concept of the Thursday edition of Open Forum. Since 2023, Open Forum has been dedicating its Thursday edition in engaging with the police to discuss, not just work matters, but also their lives and challenges as police officers and human beings. In the more than 12 months on air, Nuez and his band of brave men and women have been gracing the show to share the trials and triumphs of being police officers.
Nuez has been busy these days engaging with Boholanos in the different parts of the province and assured the people that in the event they will encounter issues with the police, the PCADU is ready to mediate in the most pleasant way possible. After all, police work needs the community’s help in order to succeed according to him.
During the show, Nuez cited the contributions of Lt. Thomas Zen Cheung for the latter’s excellent work as PCADU deputy and his spirit to deliver excellent police work.
Nuez said his new deputy is a sincere man who has the drive to serve the people well.
PCADU’S WORK
PCADU means Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit and in Bohol, this is being headed by Nuez. He said his unit has been busy coordinating and participating in the different activities for the 29th Police Community Relations Month. During the celebration, they delivered services to the Boholanos especially in Bohol’s remote areas. This is on top of the regular projects including the Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) program where indigent families get homes from the contributions of well-meaning individuals and the community.
Wherever there is a new home turned over, the Peace Caravan also delivers medical and dental services in the said area. The Libreng Alagad ug Balay has given no less than 25 homes to indigent families across the province. They get support from LGUs and sponsors as well as partners such as the Lion’s Club.
DEFINING LOVE
Nuez said that their work at the PCADU has been borne out of love. But he also said that no one has the right to define love as such emotion comes from God. As men cannot fathom God’s greatness, it is also true with love, which is unfathomable. To him Love for the Community has become a central theme in police community relations and thus has become the cornerstone of service to the people.
Nuez said that in their work, the most important thing is that people are filled with love and if this happens, defining what love means becomes irrelevant. It is within the confines of love for fellowmen that the police engage in community work and drive themselves to make the community better.
