Tagbilaran City has secured its title for the second consecutive year, emerging as champion in the Sandugo 2024 Street Dancing Competition held on July 27, 2024.

The city triumphed over six other municipalities in the competition, which took place at the CPG Sports Complex last Saturday.

Representing Tagbilaran City, the Poblacion III Tribu Tagbilaranon dancers, who were also the champions of the Saulog Tagbilaran 2024 Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown, delivered a spectacular performance that captivated the audience and judges alike.

As the grand champion, Tagbilaran City was awarded a trophy, P600,000 and development projects to support the local government unit’s initiatives.

In addition to clinching the grand prize, the group won the Best Costume award, earning a P50,000 prize and a trophy.

Mayor Jane Yap expressed her elation and pride over the victory, stating, “This achievement reflects the dedication, talent, and hard work of our dancers and the entire community. It is a testament to the vibrant culture and spirit of Tagbilaran. We will continue to support and promote our local talents, ensuring that our city’s cultural heritage thrives.”

Mayor Yap also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who generously supported and assisted Tribu Tagbilaranon.

She specifically thanked the City Government of Tagbilaran and Barangay Poblacion 3 led by Punong Barangay Felixberto Remolador, the dedicated members of Tribu Tagbilaranon Team, Choreographer Marvey Bastido, and all the dancers, performers, instrumentalists, and propsmen.

Their collective efforts and cooperation made this achievement possible and contributed to the success of Tribu Tagbilaranon.

The Sandugo Street Dancing and Ritual Showdown is the highlight of the annual Sandugo Festival organized by the Provincial Government of Bohol. The Sandugo Festival commemorates the blood compact between Bohol Chieftain, Datu Sikatuna, and Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, a pivotal event in Philippine history known as the first international treaty of friendship.
