Bohol scholar wins silver at International Nuclear Science Olympiad

First District Cong. Atty. Edgar M. Chatto has congratulated Jeremiah Auza, a Grade 10 student from the Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus, for winning a silver medal for Team Philippines at the 1st International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) held on Aug. 6, 2024, in Clark, Pampanga.

Auza was among 55 competitors from 14 countries who participated in the event, which included theoretical and experimental examinations focused on nuclear science and radiation concepts. His performance not only earned him a silver medal but also highlighted the exceptional capabilities of Filipino youth on an international stage.

The INSO, organized by the Philippine Nuclear Science Institute in collaboration with various educational and governmental bodies, aimed to foster a deeper understanding of nuclear science among young scholars.

Filipino students excelled in the competition, bringing home a total of two gold medals and one silver, with Auza’s contribution being a significant highlight.

In a statement, Chatto expressed immense pride in Auza’s accomplishments, emphasizing how his success reflects positively on the educational initiatives and support provided to students in the province.

Chatto said the government reiterated its commitment to nurturing young talents through various programs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and promoting science and technology.

Jeremiah Auza’s journey does not end here; he is set to represent the Philippines at the upcoming 17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Aug. 17 to 26, 2024.

His participation in this prestigious event further underscores the potential of Filipino youth to shine on the global stage, according to the Boholano lawmaker.

Chatto noted that the recognition of Auza’s achievement resonates deeply within the Boholano community, inspiring other students to pursue excellence in their academic endeavors.

Boholano educators have praised Auza not only for his individual success but also for representing the province and the country with honor and distinction.
