Tagbilaran City holds workshop on Organizational Vision, Mission, and Goals

The City Government of Tagbilaran, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Cities for Enhanced Governance and Engagement (CHANGE) Project, hosted a Workshop on Organizational Vision, Mission, and Goals. The event brought together department heads, office leaders, and representatives from Civil Society Organizations on August 5, 2024, at Jj’s Seafood Village in Tagbilaran City.

The City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a workshop on August 5, 2024, at Jj’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City, to formulate its organizational vision, mission, and goals, as well as to review its organizational structure.

The workshop, attended by department heads and heads of offices, was facilitated by Dr. Rosalinda Paredes, City Governance Coordinator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Cities for Enhanced Governance and Engagement (CHANGE) Project.

The primary objective of the workshop was to update the current vision, mission, and goals of the city to ensure they remain responsive to the evolving needs of Tagbilaran and its residents.

The inclusion of civil society organization representatives aimed to foster a comprehensive and participatory approach, ensuring diverse perspectives were considered in defining a clear and unified vision for the city’s future.

Mayor Jane Yap highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our collective effort in redefining our vision, mission, and goals is vital for the progress of Tagbilaran City. This workshop serves as a platform to align our strategies and ensure that we are all working towards a shared purpose.”

Mayor Yap also expressed her gratitude to Dr. Paredes, acknowledging her expertise and valuable contributions to the workshop.

By reviewing and refining the organizational structure, the City Government of Tagbilaran aims to enhance efficiency and responsiveness in delivering public services.

This initiative reflects the city’s dedication to continuous improvement and excellence in governance.

Tagbilaran holds Nutrition Month culmination event

Tagbilaran City culminated its Nutrition Month activities on July 31, 2024 at the Tagbilaran City Saulog Gym. A focal point of the event is the implementation of the first 1,000 Days Program, notably the Buntis Alagaan, Bata Ampingan Program by the City Government of Tagbilaran through the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF). In photo, Ms. Flaviona Joaquin (standing 3rd from the left) is distributing milk products to women and children in the city, emphasizing the commitment to promoting maternal and child health in Tagbilaran.

Tagbilaran City concluded the Nutrition Month celebration with an activity on July 31, 2024 at the Tagbilaran City Saulog Gym.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 170 children aged 2-4 years old, accompanied by their mothers and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, representing the 15 barangays of Tagbilaran City.

City Nutrition Officer Rey delos Santos welcomed the participants while Assistant Nutrition Officer Ms. Joan Ganub delivered an insightful discussion on this year’s Nutrition Month theme: “Sama-sama sa Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) sa nutrisyong sapat para sa lahat.”

The event also highlighted the First 1,000 Days Program specifically the Buntis Alagaan, Bata Ampingan Program of the City Government of Tagbilaran.  

This vital initiative provides pregnant women with essential vitamin supplementation, including Iron Folate and Calcium, as well as deworming.

High-risk pregnant women are also supported with milk supplementation.

For young children, the City’s Batang Abtik Basta Alaga program addresses the nutritional needs of malnourished children aged 2-4 years, while promoting the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months.

Adding a touch of glamour and inspiration to the event, Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2023 and Miss Bohol 2024 1st Runner-Up, Ms. Flaviona Joaquin, graced the occasion as a representative of City Mayor Jane Yap.  

A student of BS Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Bohol, Ms. Joaquin shared her advocacy for “Nutrition for All”,  which inspired her to pursue her course to better serve the people of Tagbilaran.

In an interview, Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude to all participants and organizers, stating, “Our collective efforts in promoting nutrition and health are vital in ensuring a brighter future for our children. Together, we can make a significant difference in their lives.”

The event also featured a talk by Mr. Robin Culpa, Public Health Nurse at the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF).

He highlighted the critical roles of family planning and immunization in promoting family and child health and nutrition.

The event was a resounding success, highlighting the city’s commitment to improving the nutritional status and overall health of its youngest citizens.

The collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the City Government, healthcare providers, and community volunteers, play a crucial role in realizing the vision of a healthier, well-nourished Tagbilaran City.
