Mayor Yap distributes P.E. Uniforms to Day Care pupils

In a heartwarming initiative, Mayor Jane Yap distributed physical education (P.E.) uniforms to Day Care pupils on August 12-13, 2024 at the Saulog Gym.

This initiative underscores the city administration’s commitment to promoting health and fitness among young children.

The distribution activity saw hundreds of Day Care pupils receiving brand new P.E. uniforms.

Mayor Yap personally handed out the uniforms to the delighted children, emphasizing the importance of physical education in early childhood development.

The distribution was assisted by City Social Welfare Development Officer Lucille Clarin and Child Development Officer Nora Dajes, who played key roles in ensuring the event’s success.

Mayor Yap, in her speech, highlighted the city government’s dedication to supporting the youth and ensuring they have the necessary resources for a well-rounded education.  

“By providing these uniforms, we aim to encourage our young learners to participate actively in physical activities, fostering a healthy lifestyle from an early age,” she said.

She also stressed the importance of physical education in developing teamwork, discipline, and overall well-being among children.

City Social Welfare Development Officer Lucille Clarin expressed her enthusiasm for the program, noting that it is part of a larger effort to enhance the quality of early childhood education in Tagbilaran.

Parents and guardians present at the event expressed their gratitude for the city’s efforts in prioritizing the well-being of their children.

Many shared that the new uniforms would boost their children’s enthusiasm for school and physical activities.

The initiative is part of a broader program by the City Government of Tagbilaran to enhance educational and recreational facilities for its youngest residents.

The distribution of P.E. uniforms exemplifies the city’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation, ensuring that our students have the resources and opportunities to excel.

City launches Linggo ng Kabataan 2024

The event took place on August 12, 2024, at the Tagbilaran City Hall Atrium.

The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Sangguniang Kabataan and City Youth Development Office, launched the Linggo ng Kabataan 2024 with a dynamic ceremony held on August 12, 2024 at the Tagbilaran City Hall Atrium.

This year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” underscores the critical role of digital technology in driving sustainable growth.

City Mayor Jane Yap delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the significance of integrating digital skills with sustainability goals.

“Our theme reflects the profound impact that digital tools can have on progress and sustainability. It’s essential that our youth leverage these technologies to contribute positively to our community,” Mayor Yap stated.

Juliet Olalo, Tagbilaran City Local Operations Officer, extended a warm welcome, setting an enthusiastic tone for the event.

Supportive messages were also given by City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha and Chief of Staff John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, highlighting the city government’s commitment to empowering young people.

Sangguniang Kabataan City Federated President Adrian Clark Bandija gave the Tagbilaran City Youth Address, while City Youth Development Officer Marbert Remolador provided the closing remarks.

The event also featured the recognition of the Sangguniang Kabataan and the City Youth Development Council (CYDC), acknowledging their contributions and efforts in advancing youth development in the city.

Additionally, there was a significant turnover of Youth Organizations Registration certificates to the CYDC, formalizing the registration of various youth groups and organizations.

The Linggo ng Kabataan featured several key initiatives, including the Youth Data Assessment and Validation on August 7-8, 2024; a City-Wide Clean-Up Drive on August 11, 2024; and Basic Life Support Training (Batch 1) on August 13-16.

Future events include Digital Literacy Training on August 19-20, 2024; August 22-23, 2024 and August 27-28, 2024 and additional Basic Life Support Training sessions from August 21-23, 2024 and August 28-30, 2024.  

The different barangays of Tagbilaran will also be holding their respective activities for Linggo ng Kabataan.  

The month-long celebrations will conclude with the Sangguniang Kabataan Congress 2024, which will bring together youth leaders and participants to celebrate achievements and plan future initiatives.
