City Gov’t turns over robotic kits and learning resources to DepEd

The City Government of Tagbilaran, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap, continues its commitment to advancing education by turning over Robotic Kits, Science Reading Associate (SRA) Laboratory and Learning Kits, and Practical Research Books to the Department of Education (DepEd) Tagbilaran City Schools Division.
This significant event took place on August 13, 2024, at the Tagbilaran City Central Elementary School and marks another milestone in the city’s ongoing efforts to integrate modern technology and innovative teaching tools into the local education system.
The resources were officially received by Dr. Wilfreda Bongalos, Schools Division Superintendent of the City Schools Division of Tagbilaran City, with school principals and DepEd personnel.
In addition to the turnover, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed for Project CoRE (Collect, Reuse), a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability through the reuse of educational materials.
The MOA signing was led by Mayor Jane Yap and Dr. Bongalos, with City Councilor Fausto Budlong and Adelfa Salutan, Head of the City Livelihood and Community Development Unit (CLCDU).
Project CoRE represents a shared commitment between the city government and DepEd to foster resourcefulness and sustainability in education.
Following the turnover ceremony, a Robotics Technology Training session was conducted for teachers, themed “Building the Future: Essential Training in Robotics”.
This training program is not just about introducing teachers to new technologies; it is a movement towards modernizing education by placing technology and innovation at the heart of learning.
The training aims to transform classrooms into dynamic environments where creativity and discovery are encouraged, ensuring that students are well-prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow.
Mayor Jane Yap emphasized the importance of these initiatives in her remarks, stating, “Our vision for Tagbilaran City is one where education is not just about books and traditional methods but about preparing our students for the future.
By integrating robotics, advanced science tools, and practical research into our schools, we are giving our children the tools they need to succeed in a world where technology is constantly advancing.”
The event underscores the strong partnership between the City Government of Tagbilaran and DepEd in achieving educational excellence.

Tagbilaran City College (TCC) and Ibex Global Solutions Philippines Inc. – Bohol have solidified a significant partnership through the signing of a groundbreaking Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), aimed at enhancing educational and professional opportunities for students.
The signing ceremony took place on August 14, 2024, at the Tagbilaran City Hall, with key figures including City Mayor Jane Yap, Chairperson of the TCC Board of Trustees, and Ms. Christina Marie Gaspe, Vice President for Talent Acquisition at Ibex, in attendance.
Also present were TCC College Administrator Dr. Del Mark A. Cagatin and Randy Gumapac, Assistant Manager for Talent Acquisition at Ibex.
Mayor Yap expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration between Tagbilaran City College and Ibex Bohol marks a major milestone in our ongoing efforts to equip our students with the skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in today’s competitive job market.”
She further highlighted how this partnership will bolster Tagbilaran City’s status as a hub for Bohol’s ICT and BPO industries.
“By promoting ICT and BPO, we are not only generating thousands of jobs for Boholanos but also stimulating economic activity and boosting local businesses,” Mayor Yap added.
The MOA establishes a strategic partnership designed to create new opportunities for students by integrating academic and professional development. Key initiatives include on-the-job training (OJT), leadership and capability building programs, and job opportunities.
Additionally, there is potential for integrating a contact center module into TCC’s curriculum, tailored to meet the demands of the expanding BPO industry.
Ibex Bohol will also spearhead leadership workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs for both students and faculty, focusing on advanced skills training and professional development. This comprehensive approach aims to prepare students for successful careers and foster growth among educational staff.
This MOA underscores the City Government of Tagbilaran’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector to enhance educational opportunities and drive economic growth.
The partnership also represents a significant step towards reinforcing the city’s role in the evolving ICT and BPO landscape.
