The much awaited full consular office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Tagbilaran City will open in November.

This was the update of DFA Office for Consular Affairs Asec. Adel Cruz to Cong. Edgar Chatto.

Alturas Mall is currently undertaking the construction of space requirements of DFA.

A DFA team led by Director Conrado Dedem, Jr. inspected the prescribed office space preparations for the consular office back in August with Chatto’s team along with Karen Longjas of Alturas Group Corporate Leasing and Stella Fullido of the Alturas Mall Management.

Meanwhile, the recruitment process for the 16 positions that will complement the office has begun.

The DBM issued the Notice of Staffing and Compensation Action on September 5 and DFA published the positions for applications on September 10.

The recruitment process has been scheduled in October with the target opening of the Consular Office in November.

It can be recalled that Chatto lobbied for the establishment of the consular office in Tagbilaran City even as then governor.

In Congress, he pushed for its establishment through legislation and facilitated its inclusion in the budget for its operationalization.

Chatto had been ensuring that national government services reach the province, initiating offices such as the Bureau of Immigration and the Professional Regulatory Commission.
