Groundbreaking ceremony held for Barangay Manga Traffic Light Project

The City Government of Tagbilaran marked a significant step towards improving road safety with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Barangay Manga Traffic Light Project on September 7, 2024.

The project is part of the Traffic Management Mentorship Assistance Program (Component B – Traffic Signalization), funded by Senator Francis Tolentino, who personally attended the event.

Mayor Jane Yap, in her message delivered during the ceremony, expressed her appreciation to Senator Tolentino for his support and emphasized the city government’s commitment to enhancing public safety across all barangays.

“The safety of our residents is a top priority, and this traffic light project in Barangay Manga is a significant step in ensuring safer roads for everyone. We will continue to work with our partners to bring about meaningful projects like this that directly address the needs of our people,” Mayor Yap stated.

In his remarks, Senator Tolentino highlighted the importance of local government partnerships in addressing traffic safety concerns and expressed his continued support for initiatives that prioritize public safety. He commended the City of Tagbilaran and the barangay officials of Manga for their commitment to improving road safety for all.

Barangay Captain Nilo Lumantas, along with the Barangay Council of Manga, expressed gratitude for the project’s approval and acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the city government and Senator Tolentino’s office. Also present at the ceremony were Vice Mayor Adam Jala, members of the City Council, and other local officials.

Vice Mayor Adam Jala and the city councilors also praised the project as a critical step toward reducing accidents and enhancing traffic management in Barangay Manga.

The installation of traffic lights in Barangay Manga was a request from the local community, raised during barangay consultations to address the rising concerns about road accidents in the area.

The City Government of Tagbilaran envisions the Barangay Manga Traffic Light Project as a model for future traffic signalization initiatives, reinforcing the city’s commitment to enhancing road safety and minimizing accidents throughout Tagbilaran.
