Mga Lugpong Alang sa Paglangoy ug Pagsawom

Pasiuna

Ang Sinugboanon nga Binisayâ aduna nay daghang mga lugpong (terms) alang sa

paglangoy (swim) ug pagsawom (dive underwater). Apan atong hinumdoman nga ang pagtibugsok

o paglukso gikan sa tablom (platform for diving) gihinganlan usab sa Ininglis nga “dive”.

Bisan tuod nga daghan na og mga lugpong ang Binisayâ alang sa paglangoy, walâ

mabatasan sa mga Bisaya ang paglumbà sa langoy. Aduna hinuon kitay panagtigi kon kinsa ang

makasawom sa labing ilawom sa dagat.

Atong tukibon karon ang mga lugpong alang sa paglangoy, pagsawom, ug pagtibugsok.

Lugpong sa Paglangoy

1. swim’ (backstroke; face upward) – tinghayâ, tihayâ, hindayâ

2. swim² (breast stroke) – kábya-langóy

3. swim³ (butterfly stroke) – hápwag-langóy

4. swim⁴ (freestyle) – báyhon-langóy

5. swim⁵ (frog kick; the legs are drawn with heels together then kick apart) – binakî

6. swim⁶ (general term) – langóy

7. swim⁷ (groggy; giddy, as when drinking liquor) – bangóg, langó

8. swim⁸ (in shallow water propelled by crawling hands) – kupoy-kúpoy. Syn. uyláhot

9. swim⁹ (only with feet moving) – tíkbong

10. swim¹⁰ (smoothly underwater, as fish) – lápnoy

11. swim¹¹ (stationary location) – lúm-oy, utaw-útaw

12. swim¹² (under the water with definite direction) – kulupágon

13. swim¹³ (under the water) – sálom, sáwom

14. swim¹⁴ (without swinging the arms, as dog) – kúwoy. Syn. kapay-kápay

15. swim fin (flipper; an aid for swimming attached to the feet) – kapáy

16. swimmer (one who swims) – maglalángoy

17. swimming holesióg, salóg

18. swimming pool – binóg

19. swimsuit’ (as used by divers) – talúmos

20. swimsuit² (bikini swimsuit) – sápsingbasáan, bikini (Eng.)

21. swimsuit³ (for bathing)-basáan. Syn humdonón

Lugpong sa Pasawom

1. dive (as swimmer or submarine going down deeper) – tídlom

2. dive (from high platform and feet first) – tiúsok, tiúrok

3. dive (from platform to water head first) – tibúgsok, kádlop, sambulída (Sp.)

4. dive (from water surface to underwater) – lúsbog

5. dive (immerse underwater with great and sudden force) – tígsob

6. dive (jump and fall-flat on the water) – sugábo, dagpák. Syn. lagúbo

7. dive (sharply downward; nose-dive) – tídlop, tiúrok

8. dive (submerge) – únlod

9. dive (swallow dive; swan dive) – pinasákdop

10. dive (swim underwater) – sálom, sáwom

11. dive (to submerge onself by self-effort) –  tiláphò

12. dive (with help of heavy weight to sink fast) – húrgos

13. diver¹ (about to jump) – motibugsókay

14. diver² (jump from platform) – tigtibúgsok

15. diver³ (will swim underwater) – magsasálom, magsasáwom, mananálom, mananáwom,

       mananawómay, tigsálom

16. diving bell (an equipment for diving underwater) – búso (Sp.)

17. diving board (for jumping) – tablóm. Syn. ambakánan, luksoánan, layatánan

18. diving platformSame as diving board

19. diving suit (worn for underwater) – talúmos

20. scuba (diving gear) – hasangán. Syn. talúmos, búso (Sp.)

21. skinny-dip (to swim naked) – paglangóy nga hubô

22. submerge (be underwater) – tídlom, únlod. Syn. lúnod

23. submersible; submergible (able to function under water) – mapaúnlod, mapatídlom
