Tagbilaran City launches E-CGSO to modernize government services
The City Government of Tagbilaran marked a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey with the launch of the E-CGSO Integrated Electronic System on September 25, 2024, at Jj’s Seafood Village, Tagbilaran City.
The event, attended by Mayor Jane Yap and supply officers, showcased the innovative initiative designed to streamline and enhance the operations of the Tagbilaran City General Services Office (CGSO).
Developed under the leadership of CGSO Head Chris John Rener Torralba, Ph.D., the E-CGSO features a suite of digital tools aimed at improving the efficiency and transparency of government processes, including the e-Procurement System, Motorpool Tracking System, Asset Management System, Tent Location System, and Employee Pass Slip Management.
The launch of the E-CGSO is aligned with Mayor Jane Yap’s vision of transforming Tagbilaran City into a model of digital governance. In fact, the first executive order issued by Mayor Yap upon assuming office was to prioritize the digitalization of the city government, signaling a strong commitment to modernizing public services and enhancing operational efficiency.
During the launch, Mayor Yap emphasized the importance of embracing technology to improve public service delivery.
“The E-CGSO is a testament to our commitment to modernize and enhance the efficiency of our operations. By leveraging technology, we are making our processes more transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of our citizens,” she said.
Dr. Chris John Rener Torralba, who spearheaded the development of the E-CGSO, highlighted the potential impact of the system on the city’s governance. “The E-CGSO is more than just a set of digital tools; it represents a new way of thinking about government service. It’s about using technology to create a more efficient and effective public service,” he explained.
Attendees were given a firsthand look at how the E-CGSO can facilitate faster and more transparent transactions, reduce paperwork, and improve overall service delivery.
The implementation of the E-CGSO is expected to set a new standard for digital governance in Tagbilaran City, aligning with the city’s broader vision of becoming a smart and sustainable urban center.

Tagbilaran holds Lunsod Lunsad Rondalla workshop and recital
Tagbilaran City celebrated its rich cultural heritage with the Lunsod Lunsad Rondalla Workshop culminating in a Recital on September 21, 2024, at the Tagbilaran City Atrium.
The 2024 Rondalla Workshop, funded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran and the Department of Education (DepEd), concluded successfully with a series of performances by young musicians.
The workshop brought together 31 students from Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, all participating in the Special Program in the Arts.
The recital marked the culmination of the workshop, where students honed their skills under the guidance of expert trainers Prof. Elaine Juliet Espejo Cajucom and Mr. Rhoel Nazario from Sidhaya Rondalla.
The performances captivated the audience, highlighting the students’ dedication and passion for music.
The recital continued at the Atty. Zoilo Dejaresco Amphitheater in Tagbilaran City Friendship Park, where the young performers delivered captivating presentations, demonstrating the skills they developed during the workshop.
City Mayor Jane Yap expressed her pride in the young musicians and appreciation for the partnerships that made the event possible.
“This recital not only showcases the talents of our youth but also reflects our commitment to promoting the arts in Tagbilaran City. We are dedicated to supporting our young artists and fostering a vibrant cultural scene,” she stated.
It can be recalled that Tagbilaran City has been selected as one of the recipients of a grant from the DTI Lunsod Lunsad Program.
The Lunsod Lunsad Program, which funded the workshop, aims to empower local creatives and enhance their skills, contributing to the city’s creative tourism initiatives. The successful recital is a testament to the importance of community support in nurturing the talents of the next generation.
