BY GLORIA LEODIVICA INES ARANETA

The City Government of Tagbilaran was recognized by the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) with a plaque of appreciation for its unwavering commitment to fostering a strong and collaborative partnership with the business sector.

The award was presented during the 65th Anniversary celebration of the BCCI, held on September 29, 2024, at Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City. Mayor Jane Yap personally received the plaque from BCCI President Steven Lim and Executive Vice President Atty. Lucas Nunag.

In her acceptance speech, Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the vital role that collaboration between the local government and the private sector plays in driving the city’s economic growth.

She proudly highlighted that Tagbilaran City has been named the “Most Business-Friendly City” in the country for three times within the past five years, which earned the city the prestigious Hall of Fame Award from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

“This recognition is not just an achievement of the city government, but of the entire business community in Tagbilaran,” Mayor Yap stated. “Our success is the result of the consultative and participative leadership of the Yap-Jala administration, and it showcases the collective strength of our public-private partnership. We are committed to continuing this collaboration to drive further growth and development.”

Mayor Yap also revealed the city’s upcoming plans to further improve business services with the construction of a One-Stop-Shop Business Center. The new center will house the Business Licensing and Permit Office, the Office of the Building Official, a portion of the City Treasurer’s Office, and the Bureau of Fire Protection. This initiative aims to streamline services, offering greater convenience and efficiency for businesses operating in the city.

The BCCI’s recognition comes as Tagbilaran City continues to reinforce its reputation as a hub for economic growth and a model of public-private sector cooperation, positioning the city for continued success in the years to come.
