On September 25, 2024, a significant milestone was reached as the Municipality of Maribojoc and Bohol Island State University (BISU) formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony. The event was held at the Mayor’s Conference Hall and was led by Municipal Mayor Engr. Romulo A. Manuta (in photo, right), representing the Municipality of Maribojoc, and a representative from the academe, Bohol Island State University. This collaborative effort is centered on the preservation, protection, and promotion of the historical Punta Cruz Watchtower, one of the most iconic heritage sites in Maribojoc and the province of Bohol. The partnership aims to combine the expertise of the local government and BISU in cultural preservation, tourism development, and community engagement. Mayor Manuta expressed his enthusiasm for this project, stating that the collaboration is a vital step towards ensuring that the Punta Cruz Watchtower continues to be a beacon of Maribojoc’s rich history while providing educational opportunities for students and researchers.
