Tutor’s hold in 3rd district weakens after ‘people power’ hails Thamar

Candijay, Bohol Mayor Thamar Olaivar has filed her candidacy for reelection, reversing her earlier decision to step down and potentially running unopposed in the 2025 midterm elections.

Olaivar’s filing comes after an unprecedented mass prayer rally where supporters urged her to seek another term, signaling strong public backing for her administration.

But the mayor was notably absent from the Abante Bohol Convention in Panglao on Friday, an event organized by Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado.

Reports said Olaivar was skipping the convention due to the discomforting presence of 3rd District Congresswoman Alexie Tutor.

The mayor’s absence has fueled speculation about an all-out political war with the Tutors.

Vice Mayor Christopher Tutor, husband of Congresswoman Alexie Tutor, showed up at the Abante Bohol Convention held in a luxurious resort, with the complete slate of Candijay town councilors sans the charismatic presence of Mayor Thamar Olaivar.
