Atty. Dan Lim, former mayor of Tagbilaran, has publicly expressed his reservations about his nephew, John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, becoming a lawmaker, citing a lack of capability and legislative experience.
In an episode of his radio program “Barug Bohol” on October 22, Lim said that Yap, a three-term mayor of Tagbilaran City and former city councilor, has no solid track record in legislative work.
Lim attributed Yap’s past electoral successes to his charm and glamour, rather than any tangible accomplishments.
Lim also criticized Yap for allegedly taking credit for projects initiated by the current congressman, Atty. Edgar Chatto.
He praised Chatto’s low-key approach to governance, noting the congressman’s efforts in securing projects for Tagbilaran City without seeking to draw attention to himself.
Lim commended Chatto’s record as a congressman, particularly his work as chairman of the Climate Change panel at the House.
He noted that Chatto has been instrumental in passing several bills into law, including those related to climate change initiatives.
In a separate development, Atty. Lim revealed that he had met with leaders of the new political coalition, Barug Bohol.
The coalition, which succeeds the Padayon Bol-anon coalition that suffered a crucial defeat in 2022, plans to map out strategies for the upcoming election season.
During the meeting, Lim discussed the need for projects that would benefit Bohol, including a drainage project supported by Chatto to address perennial flooding in the Bohol Wisdom School area.
