Richli denies illegal quarry in Loboc

Richli Water, the parent company of Loctob Water, has denied allegations of quarry operations at its water treatment facility (WTP) in barangay Gotozon, Loboc.

The denial comes after Loboc Mayor Raymond Jala requested an investigation into alleged quarry operations at the WTP site, claiming that the operations were conducted without the necessary Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) and building permit.

Richli Water maintains that the earth disturbance at the site is a normal part of the construction process for a large facility like a WTP.

The company claims to have obtained all necessary permits, including the ECC, before starting construction.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government unit (LGU) of Loboc are reportedly investigating the allegations.

Jala has written to the DENR to inspect and investigate the alleged building of a WTP at barangay Gotozon and the reported quarry operations.

Loctob Water has called the complaint filed by the LGU as a form of harassment, accusing the LGU of not complying with the ease of doing business and not being business-friendly.

The company claims to have applied for and obtained the necessary permits, including the ECC and digging permit, issued by the DENR.

The LGU has alleged that Loctob Water committed several violations, including a 20-meter easement violation.

However, Loctob Water has denied these allegations, stating that the WTP is located 55 meters from the Loboc River and that any other possible violations have been remedied.

The investigation into the allegations is ongoing, and the outcome may affect the delivery of water supply to consumers in Loboc.
