The Lubas sa Dagang Bisaya (LUDABI), Association of Writers and Radio Announcers Foundation (AWRAFI), Bohol Literary Arts Culture Circle (BLACC), and National Visayan Culture and Arts Inc (NAVISCAI) are organizing a Poetry and Public Speaking Competition to commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Boholano President and poet Carlos Polestico Garcia, who was born on November 4, 1896.

The event is scheduled for November 4, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bohol Cultural Center. It is being held in collaboration with the Province of Bohol through the Center for Cultural and Arts Development (CCAD) under OIC Emerson Pinos.

The poetry competition’s theme is “Ang Dalaygong Hiyas sa mga Bol-anon,” while the public speaking competition’s theme is “Pagsumpo sa Kahiwian sa Piniliay.” 

The event will feature an intense competition among poets who will showcase the admirable traits of Boholanos through their verses.

Notable Catholic Faith Defenders will participate in the public speaking competition, including Brother Paul San Pablo Alima and Manuel Arbuyes from Panglao, CFD President Kenneth Joseph Abuyador and Rolan Misa from Dauis, Edgar Laugan from Inabanga, Ting Pastor and Liza Cacha from Loon, Rommel Caneda from Garcia Hernandez, Bhon Delgado from Tagbilaran, and Anecito P. Coritico from San Miguel.

The panel of judges for the public speaking competition includes RTC Judge Glen Pergamino, Retired RTC Judge Jorge Cabalit, LUDABI National President Atty. Leo Zaragoza, Dr. Jes Tirol, and Ronie Orillosa.

The poetry competition will be judged by Ardy Ines Araneta-Batoy, Tatay Billy Tongco, Ronie Orillosa, and Atoy Cosap.

The organizers extend their invitation to all church activists, various organizations and associations, especially those advocating for sacred elections, teachers, youth, SK chairpersons and officials, barangay officials, municipal officers, and the general public who wish to witness the poetry and public speaking competition.

This event is being revived and promoted by RTC Judge Glenn Pegarmino through LUDABI, AWRAFI, BLACC, and NAVISCAI, with support from the Center for Culture and Arts Development of the Province of Bohol.
