In a significant boost to Tagbilaran City’s healthcare capabilities, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. turned over Patient Transport Vehicles (PTV) to local government units (LGUs) including Tagbilaran, during a ceremonial handover on October 30, 2024, at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta Park, Manila.
Tagbilaran is among the 90 local government units (LGUs) selected to benefit from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program, aimed at improving access to healthcare services nationwide.
Mayor Jane Yap personally accepted the vehicle and signed the deed of donation in a formal ceremony that also saw the presence of PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, who has been instrumental in advancing the program.
The donation is expected to significantly enhance the city’s capacity to respond to medical emergencies and transport patients to healthcare facilities swiftly.
“We are deeply grateful to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles for this invaluable contribution,” Mayor Yap said during the event.
“This Patient Transport Vehicle will greatly improve our emergency response services and provide life-saving support to our residents, especially during critical times. This is truly a testament to the strong partnership between the national and local government in advancing public health.”
The PTV will be a vital addition to Tagbilaran’s medical infrastructure, ensuring that emergency responders can transport patients quickly and safely. The initiative is part of PCSO’s ongoing efforts to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved areas.
With this donation, the City Government of Tagbilaran continues to advance its public health services, reaffirming its commitment to providing essential healthcare support to its people.
