Danger of Vaping

There are many questions about vaping that have been left unanswered. These include vaping’s long-term effects on our health and the effects dof exact chemicals present in the vapor

There are new data that suggest that vaping is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease. It could even cause the symptoms for the worsening of asthma.

Studies show that vape contains nicotine and is as   addictive as traditional cigarette, heroin and cocaine. There are also some vape cartridges that contain more nicotine than the traditional cigarettes.

Manufacturers of vape have been marketing their products as aid to quit traditional cigarette smoking, However, no evidence has been shown that it improved smoking cessation. It has not also received FDA approval as a smoking cessation device.

Studies have also shown that people who use vape as a smoking cessation device, ended up with two situations: they continue to use the traditional cigarette and they also use vape.

The electronic cigarette is associated with lung injury or EVALI. This is a dreaded condition that may develop in an individual who uses vape.

EVALI is like ARDS characterized by the deposition of dead lung tissues, pus, phlegm, and inflammatory cells in one’s airway and lung alveoli.

This condition makes the lungs unable to function properly. These functions include taking in oxygen from the air and removing carbon dioxide from the body.

The CDC – Center for Disease Control and prevention reported 2,807 cases of EVALI as of 2020 causing 68 deaths.

Another potential deleterious effect of vape is its association with the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases like heart attack, stroke, peptic ulcer disease and cancer.

EVALI is common among vapes that contain THC and vit E. It is also common among VAPES that contain modified cartridges that are bought in the black market.

To summarize, there is no good thing about vape and it can’t be used as alternative to traditional cigarette smoking.

However, the good news is, it is not yet too late to quit using vape. The sooner you quit, the lesser your chances of getting lung cancer, peptic ulcer and cardiovascular disease.

So, don’t stop using vape LATER. Stop NOW!
