From the Outside Looking In

MURANG KURYENTE PARTYLIST (#9) or “baratong kuryente” in the local dialect is a partylist platform advocating for an affordable and sustainable power access to all.

Our country has one of the highest electricity rates in Asia. A stable power and affordable electricity is the backbone of a strong and vibrant industry. It is a catalyst for a robust economic growth.

By providing affordable power to all citizens it aims to uplift the living standards of our people and spur further economic development.

In a country where a sizeable portion of its population is lifeline electricity users modest government subsidies can contribute to improving their standards of living.

Making electricity affordable to every household can be achieved through a two-pronged approach.

1.By legislation.- Reviewing and amending, if needed, existing laws that regulate the power industry to protect the interest of the average electric consumer from unjustified and arbitrary power rate increases. By effectively utilizing government resources to subsidize marginal electric consumers to ease their financial burden.

2. .By advocating alternative sources of power, providing access to renewable energy platforms and other modern technologies while working on the EPIRA ( Electric Power Industry Reform Act) to keep it updated with our current needs.

The advocacy to provide affordable electricity to every Filipino family is a cause worth supporting.
