Governor delivers financial aid to Calape

Governor Aris Aumentado

Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado on Wednesday delivered over P3 million in financial assistance to the town of Calape.

The aid, which totals P3,005,000, was sourced from the provincial government and was handed over to three barangays in Calape, namely Catmonan, Kahayag, and Desamparados. 

Each barangay received P1 million, which will be used for infrastructure projects.

The Calape Local Government Unit, led by Mayor Julius Herrera, also received a share of the quarry revenue amounting to P45,000, while Barangay Catmonan received P60,000.

Aumentado was accompanied by Mayor Herrera, his daughter Goldie Herrera, former Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, and other local officials during the distribution of the aid.

In addition to the financial assistance, Aumentado also visited several barangays in Calape, including Banlasan, Sampoangon, Binogawan, and Liboron, where he handed over separate allocations for various projects. 

These include P200,000 for the concreting of the road in Banlasan, P200,000 for the installation of a submersible pump in Sampoangon, P800,000 for the installation of solar lights in Binogawan, and P200,000 for the construction of a Community Learning Center for Children in Liboron.

CV tourism official honored for contributions to industry

Leonides E. Senica, a tourism officer in Central Visayas, has been named Tourism Officer of the Year by the Department of Tourism.

The award, given on November 7, recognizes Senica’s efforts in developing tourism in the local government unit (LGU) and ensuring the welfare of the tourism industry.

According to the Department of Tourism, Senica was honored for acknowledging the importance of tourism not only as an economic driver but also for empowering the tourism office to work closely with other department offices in the LGU.

The award was signed by Judy Dela Cruz Gabato, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism.
