Reports say that the Municipality of Jagna headed by Mayor Joseph A. Rañola (inset, upper left corner), emerged as one of the top performers during the recently concluded Bohol Competitiveness Summit for 3rd to 4th Class Municipalities, securing impressive rankings across all categories and clinching the second place in overall competitiveness. The same reports say that the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Program evaluates municipalities based on five key pillars: Innovation, Resiliency, Infrastructure, Government Efficiency, and Economic Dynamism. The Municipality of Jagna demonstrated exceptional performance by ranking 1st in Resiliency, 2nd in Government Efficiency, and 3rd place in three categories: Innovation, Infrastructure, and Economic Dynamism. Panglao claimed the summit’s top honor as the most competitive municipality, followed by Jagna in the 2nd place, and Bien Unido securing the 3rd position. The winners received substantial cash prizes: ₱65,000 for 1st place, ₱55,000 for 2nd place, and ₱45,000 for 3rd place. In a significant announcement during the program, the Provincial Government of Bohol declared an additional incentive that municipalities which secure first place in any category will receive funding worth ₱500,000 for their chosen projects. This bonus award benefits Jagna which topped the Resiliency category. This comprehensive assessment helps identify and recognize local government units that demonstrate excellence in fostering competitive and sustainable communities in Bohol Province. The strong showing by Jagna across all categories demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to balanced development and effective governance, setting a benchmark for other municipalities in the province to emulate.
