From acclaimed director of “Alien” films Ridley Scott comes a sequel to the Academy Award-winning “Gladiator” in 2000, “Gladiator 2”, now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.

Bringing back the glory, spectacle, and carnage of ancient Rome to our screens, “Gladiator 2” follows the 2000 historical epic by Scott that starred Russell Crowe as Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius.

Sixteen years after Marcus Aurelius’ death, Rome is ruled by the corrupt twin emperors Geta and Caracalla. Aurelius’s grandson, Lucius Verus, lives under the alias Hanno with his wife Arishat in the North African kingdom of Numidia.

When the Roman army led by General Acacius invades and conquers the kingdom, killing Arishat and enslaving Lucius along with the other survivors, Lucius seeks revenge against Acacius and fights as a gladiator.
