City SP okays 2025 budget

The Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) has approved the P1.3 billion city government budget for 2025.

The city councilors approved, on second and third readings, the appropriation ordinance on Nov. 29, 2024 during the council’s regular session.

If the suggestion was raised during the meetings, the approval of the budget may delay the budget’s approval.

The council voted 7-2 to approve the budget.

More than P745 million of the budget will come from the National Tax Allocation and the remainder of the budget will come from local sources.

Infrastructure, education, employment and livelihood are among the priorities of the 2025 budget, said Butalid.

NGCP competes energization of CBIP

The CBIP is a project hatched by the Bohol Energy Development Advisory Group (BEDAG) during the time of former governor and now Cong. Edgar Chatto.

Bohol at that time was at the mercy of nature when the Leyte-Bohol link was severed due to typhoon Yolanda.

The problem again surfaced during the time of typhoon Odette.

The completion of the CBIP will silence Chatto’s critics, who have been harping that the said project will not be completed as planned.

The plan was to complete the CBIP by end of December 2024.

SOCIAL MEDIA FUELS PERCEPTION ON ISSUES: Atty. Dan Lim

Lim made the comments during a guest appearance on “Newsmakers ug Uban Pa” hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy, tackling the unregulated nature of social media as a key factor in its influence.

“Unlike mainstream media, social media cannot be controlled,” Lim said, adding that some sectors use propaganda to manipulate mainstream media narratives, often originating from the Palace and the Speaker.

Lim’s remarks come amid a war of words between Vice President Sara Duterte and the Marcos camp, sparked by Duterte’s revelation that she had given instructions for retaliation in the event of her assassination, targeting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Lim described Duterte’s statements as “serious” and warned that they should not be taken lightly, given her position as vice president.

“The world will be alarmed because of the situation,” he said, emphasizing the global implications of Duterte’s words.

Public warned of new modus re reclamation

Tagbilaranons should be wary of a new modus operandi where people would go around to ask for signatures on a petition against reclamation.
