Tagbilaran City added another accolade to its growing list of achievements after she received the Leader in Sustainable Financial Digitalization award at the 4th GCash Digital Excellence Awards 2024, held on December 4, 2024, at the Conrad Hotel, Manila.
Mayor Jane Yap and former Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II proudly accepted the award on behalf of the city.
The recognition celebrates government agencies that have collaborated with GCash over the past five years, positioning themselves as trailblazers in leveraging digital financial solutions to provide innovative and impactful public services for constituents and the Filipino people.
“This award is a testament to Tagbilaran City’s unwavering commitment to harnessing digital technology to empower our community and enhance public services,” Mayor Jane Yap remarked.
Tagbilaran City has consistently demonstrated excellence in digital innovation, earning multiple awards in previous years.
In 2024, the city received the GCash Excellence in Digital Innovation Award and the GCash Palengke Award – Excellence in Digital Empowerment; while in 2022, it was honored with the GCash Digital Excellence Award in Digital Sustainability.
In 2021, it received the GCash Digital Excellence Award in Digital Ecosystem Innovation, under the leadership of then-Mayor John Geesnell Yap II.
This series of recognitions highlights Tagbilaran City’s sustained leadership in promoting financial digitalization, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving economic growth through cutting-edge digital initiatives.
