The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a prestigious recognition awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the Philippines. This award aims to encourage local government units (LGUs) to adopt good governance practices and improve their service delivery to constituents. The SGLG is based on various criteria that assess the performance of LGUs in several areas, including financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, and environmental management.
This year, Loboc received this esteemed award during a ceremony held at the Manila Hotel on December 10, 2024. The event was officiated by DILG Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, who recognized local leaders for their dedication to good governance. This particular accolade is significant as it marks Loboc as the only municipality with the most SGLG awards in Bohol’s history, having previously won in 2015, 2018, and 2023.
Mayor Raymond G. Jala and the 11thSangguniang Bayan represented by Vice Mayor Helen C. Alaba expressed gratitude towards all LGU employees, national government agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), technical working group and other stakeholders who contributed in different ways. Additionally, Mayor Jala expressed his gratitude to theDILG field officer MLGOO Jocelyn B. Bandalafor guiding Loboc with the back to back awards as well as to the LGU consultants, First Consolidated Bank (FCB) Foundation ChairmanArgeo J. Melisimo and former mayor Leon A. Calipusan for sharing their knowledge and expertise at no cost to the government.
The municipality was also awarded with the2024 GawadKalasag Seal of Excellence with a rating of “Beyond Compliant”, which means that the local government has exceeded the criteria set by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Winning the SGLG not only highlights Loboc’s commitment to excellence in governance but also serves as an incentive for continuous improvement in public service delivery. The recognition comes with a financial incentive amounting to Php 1,153,000. This fund is intended to support local development initiatives that align with national goals and strategic objectives.
