Tagbilaran City receives top honors for Outstanding Blood Donation Efforts
Tagbilaran City has once again proven its commitment to public health and community welfare after being recognized with multiple prestigious awards during the Annual Partners’ Forum and Awarding Ceremony held on December 23, 2024, at the Bohol Cultural Center.
The Provincial Government of Bohol, the Provincial Health Office, and the Department of Health honored the city for its exemplary performance in promoting voluntary blood donations and ensuring an adequate blood supply.
The city received the highly coveted Platinum Award, making it one of only two awardees and the sole honoree under the local government unit (LGU) category.
This recognition highlights the city’s achievement of conducting 24 mobile blood donation drives and collecting a record-breaking 614 units of blood in 2023, the highest in the province.
Tagbilaran City also earned the Silver Award for achieving a remarkable blood donation rate of 0.870% for 2023, further demonstrating its significant contribution to the overall adequacy and safety of the province’s blood supply.
Meanwhile, Barangay Poblacion 2 was recognized with the Barangay Excellence Award for meeting the national target of a 1% blood donation rate in 2023, underscoring its vital role in this life-saving initiative.
The awards were received by Mr. Robin Culpa of the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility and City Blood Donation Focal Person James Bompat, along with Barangay Poblacion II Captain June Ramon Duroy.
They represented the collective efforts of the city government and healthcare workers, whose dedication has made these achievements possible.
Mayor Jane Yap expressed her pride and gratitude for the city’s accomplishments in her message.
She emphasized that the awards reflect not only the city’s dedication to fostering a culture of volunteerism but also its unwavering commitment to saving lives.
“Blood donation is a simple yet powerful act that saves countless lives. I am immensely proud of Tagbilaran City’s achievement in this vital endeavor,” she said.
Tagbilaran City’s recognition reaffirms its position as a trailblazer in health initiatives, inspiring other LGUs to prioritize programs that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of their constituents.

Mayor Jane Yap leads 11th annual Christmas Gift-Giving and Feeding Program for Children
The City Hall atrium became a haven of joy and laughter as Mayor Jane Yap led the 11th annual Christmas Gift-Giving and Feeding Program for children on December 21, 2024.
The tradition, which began in 2012 under former Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap, continues to spread holiday cheer and hope to young Tagbilaranons.
Interrupted only once during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the event has become a cherished staple of the city’s holiday festivities.
Organized in partnership with the private sector, this year’s program received generous sponsors’ contributions.
Globe Telecom donated colorful t-shirts for the children; Du Ek Sam distributed festive loot bags; and Solane provided cash prizes to bring even more excitement to the celebration.
Mayor Yap, in her message, expressed her gratitude to the sponsors and highlighted the importance of the event in fostering a sense of community and giving. “This program is a testament to the unity and generosity of Tagbilaran City. It reminds us of the true spirit of Christmas—sharing joy and blessings with those around us, especially our children,” she said.
Children from different barangays enjoyed a day filled with fun activities, hearty meals, and heartwarming gifts.
The smiles and laughter of the young participants reflected the success of the event in creating memorable moments for families during the holiday season.
The annual program continues to strengthen the city’s partnership with the private sector and reinforces the administration’s commitment to nurturing the welfare of Tagbilaran’s youth.
As Mayor Yap emphasized, “The gift of joy and kindness is what makes Christmas meaningful, and this tradition is one we will always cherish and uphold.”
