A historic milestone for Tagbilaran City and the Philippines was celebrated on December 20, 2024, as Mayor Jane Yap led the inauguration of the country’s first-ever hybrid-powered fire station.
The Tagbilaran City Fire Station is a groundbreaking initiative, showcasing the city’s commitment to sustainability, resilience, and innovation in public safety.
The state-of-the-art fire station operates on hybrid energy, combining renewable energy sources with traditional power systems.
This forward-thinking infrastructure not only reduces the city’s carbon footprint but also ensures uninterrupted emergency services, even during challenging circumstances.
“This fire station is a dream come true for our administration. Under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, this modern and hybrid-powered facility stands as a testament to our commitment to green development and community safety,” Mayor Yap shared during her speech.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by the turnover of a Community Relations Van, designed to bring fire safety education directly to schools and establishments across the city.
The van will facilitate training on proper responses during fire emergencies, further strengthening the community’s preparedness and resilience.
Mayor Yap extended her heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Chief Director Louie Puracan, BFP-Bohol Provincial Fire Marshal F/Supt. Raul Bustaliño, BFP Assistant Regional Director SSupt. Rogelio Bongabong Jr., and City Fire Marshal C/Insp. Matt Reil Pono.
She also acknowledged the instrumental roles of Senators Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Sonny Angara in turning this vision into reality.
“This hybrid-powered fire station is not just infrastructure—it represents our unwavering commitment to public safety and sustainable development. It also embodies the vision of a safer, greener, and more resilient Tagbilaran City,” Mayor Yap emphasized.
The Tagbilaran City Fire Station sets a precedent for innovation in emergency response infrastructure in the country, highlighting the city’s leadership in sustainable development and its dedication to the well-being of its people.
