The Tagbilaran City Government has officially opened applications for its much-anticipated “Libreng Kasalan sa Tagbilaran,” a cherished annual tradition that offers couples a memorable and cost-free wedding experience.
This year, the city has partnered with the Diocese of Tagbilaran, led by Bishop Abet Uy and Msgr. Efren Bongay, to make the event even more meaningful.
Catholic weddings will take place at the iconic St. Joseph Cathedral, while non-Catholic ceremonies will be held at the City Hall Atrium.
As part of the city’s commitment to supporting its residents, the program includes a complete package for couples who will be tying the knot.
The offerings include free bridal gowns with veils, barong tagalog with slacks, hair and makeup services, bridal bouquets, corsages, church decorations, a wedding performer, photo and video coverage, LED walls, sound system, food for family members and witnesses, wine, a wedding cake, and even wedding rings.
To top it all, couples will also receive rice cookers, tokens, and a special gift of rice from Mayor Jane Yap, former Mayor Baba Yap, and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, who will serve as principal sponsors for the event.
Mayor Jane Yap encouraged Tagbilaranons to take advantage of this opportunity and celebrate their love in a grand yet accessible way. “Every year, we ensure that our Libreng Kasalan brings joy to couples and their families. It’s our way of making dreams come true and showing our support for lasting relationships,” she said.
Applications for the February 2025 wedding event started on January 6, 2025.
Interested couples may visit the Local Civil Registrar’s Office at the ground floor of City Hall and look for Mr. Jubelyn Pulgarinas for the wedding requirements.
At least one of the partners must be a resident of Tagbilaran City to qualify.
This yearly initiative continues to highlight the city government’s dedication to fostering meaningful connections and celebrating life’s milestones with its residents.
