Bohol I Electric Cooperative Inc. (BOHECO I) has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, recognizing its commitment to quality service, operational integrity and continuous improvement.
The coop, in a statement, said the certification, considered a benchmark for quality management systems, affirms that BOHECO I’s processes meet internationally recognized standards for efficiency, responsiveness and alignment with best practices.
“For those who have doubted our commitment, this certification serves as proof that we are continuously evolving to serve our member-consumer-owners better,” said Engr. Dino Nicolas T. Roxas, BOHECO I general manager.
“This achievement belongs to every member-consumer-owner we serve. Their trust empowers us to push boundaries, and their support strengthens our resolve to be better every day,” he added.
Roxas pointed out the importance of the milestone, saying, “Receiving the ISO 9001:2015 certification is both an honor and a responsibility. It affirms the dedication of our workforce, the efficiency of our systems and fuels our drive to elevate our services.”
The ISO 9001:2015 standard prioritizes customer satisfaction, process efficiency and continuous development, ensuring that organizations remain accountable and uphold high standards of service, the Boheco I management said.
BOHECO I credited its employees, stakeholders and member-consumer-owners for their collective efforts in achieving the certification.
The cooperative pledged to uphold excellence, transparency and progress in its service to the community.
The electric coop said that the certification is the latest efforts to define the future of electric service with integrity, innovation and a commitment to those it serves.
The cooperative further noted that it aims to continue providing safe, reliable and quality electricity at reasonable rates while innovating to meet the growing needs of its consumers-members in Bohol.
Tax Exemption Bid
In a related development, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Committee on Ways and Means has rejected a request from Bohol Electric Cooperative I (BOHECO I) for a tax exemption, citing national law.
BOHECO I, which serves several towns in the first and second districts, had submitted a petition seeking relief from taxation.
However, the committee’s chairman, Nathaniel Binlod, explained that granting the exemption would be impossible due to the cooperative’s registration status.
According to Republic Act No. 7160, only cooperatives registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) are eligible for tax exemptions.
BOHECO I, on the other hand, is registered with the National Electrification Administration (NEA), not the CDA.
Binlod clarified that local government units are only authorized to provide tax exemptions to cooperatives registered with the CDA, as stipulated in the law.
The committee has advised BOHECO I to comply with the necessary requirements and register with the CDA if it wishes to avail itself of tax exemptions.
