A comprehensive anti-drug operation conducted by the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has resulted in the seizure of approximately P2.4 million worth of methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu,” between January 27 and February 2, 2025.
According to a detailed report released by BPPO Provincial Director Police Colonel ArnelBanzon, the successful operations spanned 31 separate police interventions across various stations throughout Bohol province.
The operations led to the confiscation of 361.58 grams of methamphetamine and the arrest of 31 suspects.
All arrested individuals are facing charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In parallel operations targeting illegal gambling, the BPPO reported seizing P3,807 in cash from 25 separate raids, resulting in 63 arrests.
Seven cases have been filed in court in connection with these operations.
The week-long crackdown also yielded notable results in illegal firearms enforcement.
Authorities confiscated 26 unlicensed firearms and received 27 surrendered weapons, leading to the arrest of six suspects.
The provincial-wide operation proved further success in apprehending wanted persons, with 12 individuals classified as “most wanted” and one ordinary wanted person being taken into custody.
In Central Visayas region, the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7), under the leadership of Regional Director Police Brigadier General RedricoMaranan, reported seizures of illegal drugs valued at P1.6 million between January 31 and February 1, 2025.
These operations resulted in the confiscation of 241.31 grams of methamphetamine and the arrest of 16 suspects across 12 separate police operations.
The regional anti-gambling operations yielded P835 in cash seizures from six operations, leading to six arrests and subsequent court cases.
PRO7’s report also bared the arrest of one most wanted person and 13 other wanted individuals.
Nine unlicensed firearms were either confiscated or surrendered during nine separate operations.
Notable Cases
In Valencia town, a breakthrough came on February 5, 2025, with the arrest of 19-year-old AljhonCainglet during a buy-bust operation.
Police seized approximately 85 grams of suspected methamphetamine valued at P578,000, along with a .45 caliber pistol and ammunition.
In Talibon, authorities arrested JersonAuguis, 29, after discovering 13 small packets of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.39 grams, with an estimated value of P2,600.
In related developments, the BPPO announced the promotion of 334 police officers, including 12 Police Commission Officers (PCO) and 322 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCO).
The promotions span various ranks, from Police Lieutenant to Police Captain, reflecting the organization’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding service excellence.
The promotion ceremony was scheduled for February 6 at Camp Francisco Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City, where the newly promoted officers received their new ranks.
