The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested two foreign nationals in separate operations in Bohol and Cebu for overstaying their visas, authorities said.

Chinese national Dong Chengzhi, 27, was apprehended in Doljo, Panglao, Bohol, on Feb. 20, according to BI Intelligence Division operatives who conducted the arrest in coordination with the Panglao Municipal Police.

On the same day, Japanese national Takeshi Nishiyama, 48, was arrested in Kasambagan, Cebu City, by BI operatives working with the Mabolo Police Station.

Both individuals were found to have exceeded their authorized stay in the Philippines.

The arrests followed intelligence reports about the presence of overstaying aliens in the areas.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado noted the bureau’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws.

“The Bureau remains vigilant in tracking down overstaying foreign nationals and ensuring compliance with visa regulations,” Viado said.

“Violators will face legal consequences, and we will not tolerate any disregard for immigration laws.”

Chengzhi and Nishiyama are currently in BI custody pending the resolution of their deportation cases.
