Tagbilaran holds free spay, castration, and microchipping for pets
The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO), successfully conducted a Massive Free Spay and Castration Program for dogs and cats, along with free anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, and microchipping on March 26 and 27, 2025, at the Mansasa and Taloto Covered Courts, respectively.
The initiative, spearheaded by CAVO OIC, Dr. Carl Leonard Pradera, was aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring a healthier environment for both animals and their owners.
Hundreds of pet owners from across Tagbilaran flocked to the venues, bringing their furry companions for the free surgical procedures and preventive healthcare services. The veterinary team performed spay and castration procedures on both male and female pets, helping to control the stray animal population in the city.
Additionally, pets that did not undergo surgery were provided with anti-rabies vaccination, deworming, and microchipping, reinforcing the city’s commitment to animal welfare. Each pet owner received post-surgery care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery for their pets.
The City Government of Tagbilaran is grateful to all volunteer veterinarians, medical staff, and personnel from various city government offices who extended their support and assistance during the two-day activity.
Pet owners lauded the City Government of Tagbilaran for consistently organizing such activities, emphasizing how it lessened their financial burden while promoting proper pet care. The City Agriculture and Veterinary Office assured that more activities will be rolled out in the coming months to support pet owners and strengthen the city’s advocacy for animal health and safety.
