The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is eyeing a second hosting in the province.
The ASEAN National Organizing Council (NOC) team, comprised of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Communications Office and private sector representatives, met with Cong. Edgar Chatto during a courtesy call on April 2, 2025.
The team, led by Ambassador Celia Anna Feria, Director-General for Operations, visited the province for ocular inspections in relation to the holding of the ASEAN in 2026.
Bohol first hosted the ASEAN in October 2017 for the ministerial and senior officials meeting on ASEAN economic development.
Chatto as then governor had spoken of the positive gains for Bohol being one of the key venues of the summit events, which impact in terms of economic growth and development can be immeasurable.
Along with the ASEAN NOC team came Major General Potenciano Camba (Ret.), now the Technical Assistant, Head of Operations of the ASEAN NOC.
Camba, who used to be the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Special Forces Battalion in Bohol, shared being part of the Purok Team engaging the Boholanos and delivering government services in the frontlines.
He also expressed gratitude for the partnership of the Armed Forces and the ProTeams in serving constituents, citing the province’s progress with the transformative leadership of Chatto.
Also present during the meeting were Consul General Reginald Bernabe, Technical Assistant, Head of Conference Management Services; Maria Angela Navato-Javier, Technical Assistant, Head of Tourism Management Services; Cecyrille Lorenzo, Head of Hospitality Management Services; Alyanna Tolentino – Executive Assistant III; Luis Enrico T. Eleazae- Head, Media Production Division and DFA Tagbilaran Consular Office Team headed by Main Bernadette Cirujales.
