The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) will investigate alleged delayed payments for hospital supplies at province-owned hospitals, Board Member Aldner Damalerio announced during an interview over DYTR’s “Newsmakers ug Uban Pa.”
The issue surfaced after reports indicated that hospital payables for supplies, which should have been settled years ago, remained outstanding.
Damalerio said the matter has been referred to the Committee on Health and the Appropriations panel.
He raised issues about pending obligations from prior years, noting that some 2023 payables, totaling approximately P16 million pesos, are only being addressed this year.
Damalerio questioned why payments for medical supplies, reportedly purchased in late 2022 or early 2023, are being processed now.
Damalerio confirmed he obtained the purchase order numbers for the transactions under scrutiny.
The investigation aims to determine the reasons behind the delay in settling the Capitol’s obligations to suppliers for purchases made at least two years ago.
The unpaid obligations came to light when provincial government departments requested a supplemental budget.
Upon reviewing the details, Damalerio identified the 16-million-peso outstanding debt for medical supplies.
He expressed confusion over why such an obligation, incurred years ago, remains unpaid and sought to clarify whether this is an isolated case.
A joint committee meeting, led by the Health and Appropriations panels, will work to resolve the details of the issue.
Despite the ongoing campaign season, Damalerio noted that he continues his legislative duties, including visits to various barangays in the first district.
