WHAT WE SEE IS NOT ALWAYS WHAT IT IS

In this day and age of the internet where news travels fast and fake news even faster, we have to carefully discern things  lest we become unwilling purveyors of misinformation.

Everything we read and see should be taken with a grain of salt and be subjected to at least some form of fact-checking. With AI and other platforms that can easily transform lies to make it appear as true we must be very vigilant.

Especially now that the elections are forthcoming, we are bombarded with all sorts of information to influence us and sway public opinion.

In a game where perception matters, politicians are scrambling to project better images of themselves to gain our votes. Hence we must always be on our guard.

Sadly our political system is such that people become gullible when given favors and perks. We tend to believe these outward gestures  of charity and easily fall for  these publicity stunts.

Yet amid all this festive hype, we must  develop our own deep understanding of how things work. We must always remember that we are only as good as the people we elect into office.

We despise how government is ineffective. We hate corruption and we want change. Yet we continue to elect the same breed of people to lead us.

So what then can we do?  We must learn to sacrifice and set aside our personal interests  for the greater good. We must learn to think beyond ourselves and look forward to a better future for our next generation.

Decisions we make in the present greatly affect our future. We must not be easily carried away by emotion. Politicians appeal to our emotions and  promise the heavens and earth.

But we must not be won that easy. What we see may not be what it seems. We have to feel our way around guided by reason and intellect.

We cannot afford to commit the same mistakes again and again!
