Ubay, Bohol — Puregold opened its first branch in Bohol province Thursday, bringing its nationwide store count to 511.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado and Puregold Vice President for Operations Antonio de los Santos led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location in Ubay town.
Ubay residents attended the opening, which marks the retail chain’s entry into the province’s competitive grocery market.
The new store is expected to provide Boholanos with increased access to affordable grocery items and boost the local retail sector.
The expansion fits with Bagong Pilipinas economic development plans for the province.
Puregold is one of the Philippines’ largest retail chains, operating since 1998 when it opened its first store in Manila.
The company has rapidly expanded across the country, particularly focusing on both urban centers and provincial areas.
The chain is owned by businessman Lucio Co and is known for its competitive pricing strategy targeting small business owners, resellers and general consumers.
Puregold primarily offers grocery items, household goods, and personal care products.
In recent years, Puregold has accelerated its expansion into provinces outside Metro Manila as part of its nationwide growth strategy.
The company is publicly listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and has consistently ranked among the country’s top retailers.
