Tagbilaran City has once again proven its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the society, earning a Plaque of Recognition for achieving High Functionality Level in its Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) for Fiscal Year 2024.

The award was conferred by the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking 7 – Violence Against Women and Their Children (IACAT7-VAWC) Region VII during the Regional Culminating Activity of National Women’s Month on March 27, 2025, in Cebu City. It was received by Desiree Faith Lingo of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) on behalf of Mayor Jane Yap and CSWDO Head Lucille Clarin.

Signed by Regional Prosecutor Graeme June Elmido, DSWD Region 7 Director Shalaine Marie Lucero, and DILG Region 7 Director Leocadio Trovela, the recognition underscores the city’s strong governance, proactive policies, and sustained efforts in combatting human trafficking and violence against women and children.

Tagbilaran was among 14 awardees from Bohol, cementing its status as a leader in grassroots protection initiatives.

CSWDO Head Lucille Clarin welcomed the recognition, calling it a testament to the city’s unwavering advocacy for human rights.

“This award is not just an achievement—it is a call to keep pushing forward. We remain committed to strengthening our programs, working with stakeholders, and ensuring that Tagbilaran remains a safe space for women and children,” Clarin said.
