Tagbilaran City, Bohol – In a bold move to modernize public services, Tagbilaran City has launched an innovative CITYzen ID system integrated with GCash, the Philippines’ leading mobile wallet.

The new initiative, unveiled at a ceremony on April 25, 2025, at the Tagbilaran City Hall Grounds, aims to simplify access to government services, promote cashless transactions, and foster greater financial inclusion among residents.

This step is part of the city’s broader efforts to leverage technology for more efficient governance and improved citizen experience.

The event, which took place at 3:00 PM, was attended by Mayor Hon. Jane Yap and Cleo Celeste C. Santos, Head of the Public Sector at GCash.

It featured the official unveiling of the new GCash-integrated CITYzen IDs.

Opening statement was delivered by Cathelyn O. Torremocha, Chief of Staff, who highlighted the significance of the project for the city’s progress.

The distribution of the new IDs to VIP beneficiaries marked a key milestone in the initiative.

Photo opportunities showcasing GCash transactions further underscored the cashless component of the modernized system.

The launch of the CITYzen ID system is a major milestone in fulfilling Mayor Jane Yap’s first Executive Order, which focused on the digitalization of government processes in Tagbilaran City.

From the beginning of her administration, Mayor Yap has made it a priority to shift toward technology-driven governance to enhance accessibility, streamline public service delivery, and ensure inclusivity for all residents.

This initiative demonstrates her strong commitment to modernization and long-term development for the city.

In addition to the official proceedings, the event also featured a GCash booth that captivated attendees with a range of perks and promos, encouraging them to engage with the platform firsthand.

This interactive setup provided a fun and informative experience, allowing citizens to explore the benefits of cashless transactions while enjoying exclusive offers.

The new system is designed to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of government services.

By integrating GCash, the city can facilitate cashless transactions, simplifying access to various city programs, benefits, and services.

Whether it’s paying for permits, accessing financial aid, or participating in community events, the GCash integration promises to make these processes quicker and more convenient for residents.

This initiative reflects Tagbilaran City’s commitment to digital innovation as a driver of improved public service and economic progress.

By embracing modern technology, Tagbilaran is not only enhancing its local governance but also paving the way for a more inclusive and future-ready digital economy.
