HNU denounces fake election poll in Garcia-Hernandez, Bohol

GARCIA HERNANDEZ, Bohol – Holy Name University (HNU) has issued a public notice categorically denying involvement in a purported pre-election survey that has been circulating online, showing mayoral candidate Jess Baja with a commanding lead over opponent Jade Acapulco in the Municipality of Garcia Hernandez, Bohol.

The university’s notice, signed by Dr. Maria Paz J. Espiritu, Director of the Center for Research and Publications, and cosigned by the institution’s legal counsel and president, states that HNU “did not conduct any such survey in the Municipality of Garcia Hernandez during the period of April 18 to May 4, 2025.”

“The alleged survey results are false and did not originate from our institution,” the official statement declares.

The disputed poll results, branded as the “HNU Bohol Poll Pre-Election Round,” showed candidate Baja with 69 percent support compared to Acapulco’s 31 percent.

The university has promised to “initiate an investigation to determine the legal course of action against any person or group behind such malicious post.”

Jade Acapulco appears on campaign materials as the mayoral candidate for “Team Acapulco-Edubas,” with a slate of candidates for various municipal positions and a platform focusing on issues including good governance, economic recovery, and improvements to health services and education.

HNU has made it clear it does not tolerate unauthorized use of its name and logo “much less to spread lies.”

University officials declined to speculate on who might be responsible for the fabricated results.
