Service is a Lifetime Commitment – Cong Chatto

Service is not anchored primarily on positions we hold, public or private, elected or appointed. It is one’s passion to inspire others and make a difference.

This was the message Cong. Edgar Chatto echoed during a fellowship dinner with office staff, legal and campaign teams as well as volunteers on Thursday evening.

The gathering was one of thanksgiving for those whom Chatto worked with especially in his second stint in Congress as well as those who tirelessly worked during the 2025 midterm elections campaign.

He likewise thanked everyone part of his governance journey since he began his public service life in 1980.

“There is not stopping to the journey of service for the people,” Chatto said of his mission which he considers a divine plan.

Chatto also expressed gratitude to his family, wife Pureza, Balilihan mayor and daughter Trisha, Balilihan mayor-elect for being his strength, his fiercest defenders and fighters.

He shared his excitement to be able to spend more time with family in the coming days.

Chatto, who had been receiving allies in courtesy visits, has advised them to do their best in their fresh mandates.

He also assured them that he will remain open to anybody needing his support and guidance.

“Leaders must be judged on how we have passed on the ball to the next generation,” he added, baring plans to engage with the youth sector in a program that will push for excellence and prepare them to be the next to lead Bohol to greater heights of progress.

“Let us not look at the results of the elections as discouraging. It is only a temporary rest, we are going to bounce back,” Chatto stated.

“The true measure of leadership is bringing everybody up together, this is what we’ve been trying to do for Bohol,” he said, expressing his commitment to continue to contribute to Bohol’s growth and development.
