From the Outside Looking In

BY:DONALD SEVILLA

WHEN LONDON BRIDGE COMES FALLING DOWN

When you feel your world is about to come apart, what should you do? Run and duck for cover or abandon ship to jump onto the next?

People who have been misled into believing highly of themselves and their supposed noble advocacies are often the first casualties when the harsh reality of betrayal sets in.

No one likes the feeling of being used  only to be dropped like a hot potato in the end. In this messy world of our politics and governance,

overzealousness leads to desperation when expectations are not met.

Caught up in the heat of the moment, passionate individuals are often blinded to the truth and start believing the expectations they want to happen.

In politics, character assassination is not uncommon and maligning people’s reputations is part of this evil game.

Stories and fake news are made to paint a grim picture of opponents and the competition. Yet beneath all these, lies the unblemished truth only to surface when all the dust settles.

It is during these reckoning times that reality bites and comes to haunt those who have been misled.

While it is noble to realize one’s mistakes and seek apology for them, there is no absolution without penance.

Forgiveness is one thing but recompense is another.  For all the things we have done wrong and the pain we have inflicted on others, somehow we must pay in one way or another. Not necessarily  with an eye for an eye but in a manner commensurate to the damage we have caused.

This is when, justice is truly served!
